Climate research at RAND is organized around adaptation under deep uncertainty, designing decisions that perform well across the range of plausible climate futures, not the single most-likely one.
Through the Frederick S. Pardee Center for Longer Range Global Policy and the Future Human Condition, RAND has produced two decades of work on decision-making under deep uncertainty, most notably Robert Lempert's Robust Decision Making framework, which has been adopted by water utilities, coastal planners, and national climate-adaptation programs worldwide.
